The Hierophant came out a lot more stripped down than I imagined it, but I am not sure I want to upset the delicate balance of this card by adding details.

What do you guys think?

Process post!
My entire development for The Hierophant and The High Priestess fit into two spreads of my sketchbook. Brainstorming on page one, layouts and studies for faces/masks on page two, and then the cards side by side — it was important to draw them that way to ensure they looked good paired against each other. You’ve already seen the finished High Priestess, and the finished Hierophant is coming soon.

Hey guys! I know I promised a process post, but oh my goodness, I just finished this and was simply too excited to share it with you.

Behold, my Antigone-inspired High Priestess!

—Olga

A study for High Priestess — this is meant to be Antigone, but hopefully even if it’s not entirely obvious, the reference to Greek theatre is still clear enough.

I will post the process sketches tomorrow, mostly because I am making two cards at once as I linked them thematically, and I want to show you guys my thought process.

Here’s my entire development for the Hermit card, all in one spread — concept, rough ink sketch, study, big study, and the paper cutout.

Three finished* cards from my half of the deck:
The Lovers (Punch and Judy)
The Hermit (Stilt Walker)
Strength (Anna Pavlova as the Dying Swan)

*The imagery is finished, but little cleanup of the lettering and unifying of the designs is still required.

Hi guys!

Thank you all so much for sticking with us through our unplanned hiatus. We love each and every one of you for doing it. We’re back now, and this time we’ll be dishing out art daily up to the 15th, by when we’re hoping to finish all major arcana cards!

We have huge plans for the deck! We’re planning on kickstarting it so we can make sure we produce the best quality cards and the most sophisticated packaging available. As always, I’ll try to post every page of my sketchbook so you can watch my progress and how I work.

Siân is also hard at but scannerless, so her input may be a little limited.

Please stay tuned for some awesome Tarot!

HI!
Siân here,
sorry it has been so long but I’m training myself to get back into working. Working on finalizing The Tower card. A circus tent for the tower. I quite like it as it is. Need to clean it up and the such but fairly happy.
Sorry for the poor photos. I am still out of a scanner :( But hopefully not for long.

This design is pretty rough, but I wanted to just get the idea down as precisely as possible: This is Philippe Petit, the man who walked on a tightrope across the Twin Towers in ‘74, as The Hanged Man card for 2OS.
